Resolution/aftermath on page 5!

So, had some odd sounds coming from the truck when accelerating from a stop while turning left. Never could figure it out, and then decided to poke around under the hood today. Noticed the engine cover was actually touching the fan shroud. Didn't seem normal.

Engine also seemed to be kinda leaning to the passenger side.

Ta-fuckin-da! I've Tibaal'ed my fucking frame =(

JB Weld to the rescue! Told you not to off-road that thing. Hope the fix is not too expensive.

Is that surface rust around those cracks? Looks like you might have been running that way for a while.

Might be a tinge of it in there. It also deposited about 3 metric tons of mud at a self-serve car wash less than a month ago so there's that too.

Jeez Adam, is that the worst place to have to weld or what?

It'll just crack again if welded.

Dare I ask how you resolved it? I'm kinda freaking out thinking this truck is perma-phukt.

It was popular at one point to reinforce the 1 Gen Tacoma frames by welding on plates cut to the shape of the frame. Maybe this will become popular with certain areas on the FJ's too.

Take it to Camelback Toyota I bet they would make calls and fix that. Threaten them with Facebook!

I actually sent a message to Eric Murphy to see if he can do anything. If anyone supports the FJ community, he's the man.

As far as my research goes though, not once has Toyota covered this issue, except Tibaal's. And his fix wasn't a warranty fix, but the R&D department wanted his old frame to probe it like an alien abductee.

An upgrade opportunity.

I'd plate over the inside wall of the frame with 3/16" and then reweld the mount on top of that with gussets.

Is jb weld really as strong as if I just welded them on with my welder?

Could be stronger it all depends on how you weld
