Don't worry, the article promises they only take images of the rear plate, and it's sent to DHS within seconds. But they don't save images of the front of the vehicle to identify occupants. Reassuring.

images kept for 6 months... but they also dont say if the images will be copy/sent to other agencies with different retention policies. My money is the NSA DHS get a copy of everyone snapped.

at least when your files go into the NSA cloud they can be encrypted to reduce the prying eyes.. of course without saying you should use a flavor of AES with a 256 block cipher or greater

I don't like the cameras at all. I will say that I know for a fact that Bruce has always made large donations to law enforcement and veterans organizations. I also know that he and his wife were victims in their PV home some time back so I don't blame him for possibly "extra" donating to the PV law enforcement. I have no way to know if the cameras were something he thought about, or his personal views on them. I guess my point is, I'm not ready to villainize DT or Mr H based on the information currently known.

Still don't like the cameras.

In Pima County, they simply ran out of political will to keep these cameras going. (More likely budget) but that won't be a problem in PV.

There were 11 speed cams around the county.

They are gone now.
The City of Tucson maintains an annoyingly robust redlight camera program which isn't going anywhere. I have to admit, it has reduced fatalities at intersections. But more likely it has fattened the general fund.

They still have photo radar vans that are apparently invisible to drivers in a hurry.
