Then there was this time, turtled on a rock in Cherry creek, when the 80' of winchline was out and the tree saver attached around a big mesquite, sun going down, when my Warn 10,000 would not pull me off. Bad relay (First time I used it in anger).

Don't bet your life on a winch, but for this price, you could buy two for the price of a Warn. Weld one on your trailer hitch, and one in your bumper, and pull from any direction.

I've had mine for years. I've used it 6 or 7 times.
The last time was last year when I replaced the wire rope with synthetic.
It's just like anything else, test it and maintain it and it will be there when you need it.
