This was a great run in Alma, CO - just south of Breckenridge. Top of the pass was 13,222'. We only got to 12,500' +/- as the snow pack was still a bit much to pass without any other vehicles to help - no trees for winch points at that elevation.

EDIT: You can get to the trail via Park Hill Road on Highway 9 in Alma. Take that west and follow the signs towards Mosquito Gulch. Easy to follow from there. Again, we were stopped by snow about 2/3 of the way to the top so I am not sure how long the run really is. You should end up across the pass in Leadville.

I would only rate it a 2 because some section were rocky and quite slick. Could be a 1.5 depending on weather. I am also a wimp.

I would highly recomend the run if you are ever in the area. Not hard, but there are some challenging side roads and the scenery was unreal and the shelf road at 13,000' is pretty cool. The pass takes you from Alma, CO, about 17 miles south of Breckenridge and heads to Leadville. It is an old stage coah route with lots of really great mines in good condition.

That should be a good teaser for all of you headed to CO this week. I will be heading though Ouray on the 16th on my way back down to PHX, but I can't stay and play.

Finchy, since this isn't in Arizona, I'm moving it to the other trail reviews section. Also if you could maybe give us some more info based on the trail review format found here that would be awesome. Just so people can get some kind of ideas as to ratings, etc.

Miss Artoo, fixed my original post a bit with a rating and direction to grab the trail head. Hope that is better, I am not much of a writer!

So this is what this place looks like without DEEP snow!!
I worked a winter as a "lifty" at Breckenridge. I haven't been back since. Oh the good ole days. I have been wanting to see the area up there without the snow for forever.
This area looks very familiar even though I only saw this area by snowmobile and at night. I remember seeing old wooden structures like in the pic, it might even be the same one. The snowmobiling up there was super cool. Riding above the tree line was like riding on the moon.
