In April 2013 I purchased a mostly stock, 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser (manufactured in April 2006), with 116k Miles, 4x4, 5-speed auto, e-locker, Air Raid intake, and bull-bar.

I've done most of the modifications myself, with some help from non-members (noted below) donating and giving me good deals on parts, and other parts I had left over from previous Toyota 4x4's.

Modifications (in order of completion):

  • Custom license plate, and frame.

  • A-TRAC switch added

  • AM/FM/CD/DVD Player with backup camera

  • ICON IC-208H HAM Radio

  • Light bar integrated into roof rack

  • Fog Lights attached to bull bar

  • Rock lights that can dance

  • Extra Power Outlets

  • Replaced missing rear headrests (Thanks CeeFish)

  • Stock Sub-woofer (Thanks progolfer_20)

  • Body Mount Chop (Thanks okiefj)

  • Dual Horns

  • Blacked out Front Bumper (Thanks FNJMAN)

  • Black Chrome Painted Wheels

  • Trail Teams Rear Suspension (Thanks Code510)

  • Black out rear bumper, door handles and side mirrors

  • Replaced Faulty Brake Light Switch

  • Early '07 A-TRAC Hack (Thanks superstar555)

  • Blacked out silver interior trim.

  • Front Trail Teams suspension install (Thanks Code510)

  • Replaced rotting door window seals

  • Tablet Mounting hardware installed

  • Method Race Wheels (Thanks Method) and Cooper Discovery ATP 285/70/17 tires (Thanks Discount Tires)

  • Safty Belts Recall (Thanks Big Two Toyota - or should I say No Thanks. You made my door rattle)

  • OEM Rock Rails (Thanks AZFJTOY)

  • Cleaned up and better secure Rock light wiring

  • ODB II Scanner / Android App

  • Stock Intake to get rid of the AirRaid Dust Magnet[/url] - Thanks pazzo_fj

  • Air Dam, Extra rack rails, and shovel/ax holder for Roof Rack - thanks rossaz

  • Transfer Skid

  • High Lift Jack mounted to roof rack

  • 7-pin trailer plug & brake controller

  • Soon to be color matched and built up to an Expedition Trailer

  • Reinforcing the lower link mounts on the frame.

  • Coming Soon:
Alarm with Remote Start - if I can figure out the correct wiring.
Some little hacks here and there
Fix up a few other minor cosmetics - where's that spray can?

    Coming later:
    Long Travel Suspension
    Some improved wiring fuse boxes.
    Re-locate backup camera
    LED cab lights
    Digital Compass and Out-side Thermostat
    Ventshade's for front windows
    More Stickers
Re-locate the HAM antenna (to make room for permanent CB's)

    Future wish list:
    Skid plates
    More Armor
    Aim-able spot lights
    More lights on the rack
    Front and Rear Bumpers
    Super Charger
    snorkel
    TRD Cat Back exhaust.

I had lots of fun this last weekend. Wore myself out painting tires on Saturday. That's one of those projects were I wasn't even half way through, and I start asking myself what I had gotten into.

The wheels didn't turn out as good as I hoped, but they look good enough as long as you don't look to close. I had a problem with the nozzle on one of the paint cans, so there's some uneven spots, and a few drops on the wheels.

I decided to put the rear suspension on while I was waiting for the paint to dry because I already had it up on jacks and everything I needed to get to was already exposed.

It looks SOOOO much better without all that ugly silver trim:

I also did the A-TRAC hack, and replaced the faulty brake light switch that liked to stick intermittently.

I now have a used brake light switch for sale; real cheap Wink

    This one's my favorite:

I'm almost done completely eliminated all silver trim on the vehicle... The last two left are three silver pieces on the steering wheel (probably need to get a large sheet of plastic for that one), and the rear sub-woofer (it can wait, nobody really looks back there too often anyway).

I've had to put a quick layer of paint on a few other of the black trim pieces to get them to not look dingy after all the other parts of done now look nice and shiny black. I still need to address a few more pieces and the roof rack in this regard as well.

Wow, I like the black trim around the center section... makes the black cherry pop more.

Yep, the black goes with the black cherry a lot better then the silver did, inside and out.

    Just got done installing this...

I need to re-enforce the mounting location to reduce giggling (probably a horizontal metal bar secured to the inside of the plastic molding), but other wise I like the way it looks.

Anyone have a long-skinny, rigid, square metal bar about 12" long?

Depends on what kind of metal and how skinny you want it.
