that's awesome! I'd totally rock that, not a fan of the typical snorkel setup...

That snorkel looks cool, has a military look. Nice install, guys! If anyone asks... it's for radar...or satellite tracking.

thanks for the comments guys! i'm always interested to see what my fellow FJers think. i don't really know anyone else in my "real life" that owns an FJ.

@Bruiser - thx! i will test out the MPG next i fill up!

@Tibaal - i totally agree. i like the safari style snorkels on rigs like the land cruiser and defender 90s... but i wanted minimal change to the FJ (like Bruiser stated).

@AZFJTOY - also agreed. the H1 is what inspired me to go after this style snorkel.

great question angry Tim!
this was a concern for me as well,
i listen to talk radio on my commute to/from work.

we did have to remove the antenna.
to my surprise, the radio still works!
probably only in the city limits though.
i hear static in parking garages, etc..

but i hear there is an in-dash receiver i can get for the am/fm radio.

yep, I haven't had an antenna for 5 years... still works in the open air in major stations, obviously limited when you leave town or have some major obstruction like a garage.

Brent,

Your install looks great!

I would love to get a River Raider snorkel but since I already have a dual battery installed, the Shrockworks Washer Fluid Reservoir is probably obstructing the air box too much so I don't think it is an option. Sad

EDIT:
i just saw on the forum recently
that the record for newest FJ on the trail was 3,500 miles..
i wish i had documented it, but i hit the Sierra Anchas (Cherry Creek road) in May 2013 with only 2,200 miles! Cool

Uhhhh, mine had like ~300 miles on it when I happened upon the intranet and came across some Friday night gathering thing at TM. I showed up stock thinking it was a car show and ended up following Homedad on Pipeline, over boulders, and thru car wash brush. The wife was cool until we drove thru a river crossing that was almost over the hood. Once we made it to the other side, she was cool again.

@velociraptor - yeah man... that reservoir box looks like it sits right where the snorkel inlet goes into the stock air box..
bummer. i hope i never have to do a relocate.

@tuffy - whoa, really?! right on, the crown goes to you my friend! Wink

radar dome is good,
my wife (architect) said it looked like a sewage ventilation pipe. lol
