Fine Tim and Co.

I deleted my post as it was based on smartassidness like most of my posts.

BUT....There isn't a chance in hell I'm gonna' spend more time researching the local closures then the trail takes to run.

If you want me off your land. Post a fucking sign or prove it to the judge that I'm breaking any laws.

In court, I'll win!

I said it a million times before....the laws to keep the jackasses in line are already on the books, and have been for many years. The state can enforce them any time they want!!!

But they won't...They can't afford to.

They wasted all the money doing a "study"

No one wins but the desert tortoise Wink

Fuck it I'm done. Go where you want, when you want.

TRAIL STATUS

These are the trails that are listed in the Trail Reviews section and a couple more that I know of. If you know of any that need to be listed or a status that is incorrect then please PM me. I would like to keep this as updated as possible.

Nice... I'm sure a lot of us appreciate your efforts...

Thanks Don. We will just have to see how long it stays up there. Seems to me there is a lot of complaining and back biting about something that was supposed to help people, not accuse people.

I think you'll find there are a lot of people who appreciate it.

I may bitch about how the government is handling things, but I always want to operate correctly under the law. This helps.

I also appreciated the links to the maps. I downloaded the smart phone versions, unfortunately one is showing up blank and the other is too low a res to help much. The GPS version requires a PC to load instead of being a universal GPX format, but hey the only rocket scientists in the government are at NASA. None of these problems are your fault, and I appreciate any help you give the rest of us. Clearly you know way more about this than I will probably ever know...

Ah, I get it. The one I spent over an hour on has been eaten by cyberspace. Time to pop open a beer and start again.

Ok, second version of my lost-in-space post. My buddy came back from camping and was really angry. I asked him why and this is what he said. New land management laws for AZ State land (not private land) went into effect May 1 2012. This has been kept very quiet. Gov Brewer decided not to veto them. They eliminate, redraw and reclassify trails and camping spots. Trails can be opened or closed at their discretion. If you are caught on an under 52 inch width only vehicle trail, horse only trail, closed trail, or not on a trail designated on the map - $1,500.00 fine. The trail does NOT need to be marked as new maps are available at ranger stations and it is the responsibility of the traveler to find out if it is open or closed or exists on the map. He went camping in Blue Ridge over Memorial Day. His spot of 40 years was reclassified a non-camping spot so he can never camp there again. In his 40 years he saw a total of 3 Rangers. He saw over 20 Rangers that weekend and they were writing ticket after ticket. He spoke to one and the Ranger said he felt bad but was told if they don't write a ticket for EVERY violation they see that they would be fired. My buddy also spoke with a guy that was following the legislation and told him that this will be the first of three stages. If we want to know what it would be like after stage three to look at Utah. Apparently AZ is following what Utah did. I don't know what that means and I have not had a chance to research this further. Anybody with information or that can dig up some facts I think would be helpful to the group.
