So I have a little update to this story.

I got a call on Thursday from Gary that they got my tank back...but Thunderbird gave them some cockamamie story that the reason my tank was failing was because it was "cross-threaded."

Yeah, WAY suspect, since I've had this thing filled at least three times since I've had it and never had a problem prior to this.

So anyway, Gary insists that Thunderbird had some inexperienced kid working on it and he somehow managed to cross-thread it, and now they aren't owning up to it, so Gary said they (RWS) are going to handle the situation and get me a new tank since Thunderbird ruined mine. And, I'm welcome to keep the loaner until they get me a new one.

Very Happy

FYI Jag.....

That tank came from Ramsey in the first place....they eat it either way!!!

If they give you any hassle, I'll return the thing for credit on my account!

Well that is interesting because Gary told me on Thursday that they've had three of those tanks come back with the same seal failure at the neck. His speculation was that they churned out a round of them with bad seals. So this isn't entirely unexpected, but the cross-threading story doesn't jive at all--I definitely think Thunderbird screwed it up, just like Gary said. And they are being totally awesome about it.

Either way, I'm ending up with a new tank it sounds like. Very Happy

Looks like this isn't the rarest of situations. I had noticed when I had my Source tank filled the first time at Aidant that there seemed to be a little bit of bubbling at the same spot. It seems minimal, stopped after a few minutes, and so I just figured it was normal. Perhaps something to do with the condensation on the outside of the tank after being filled. *shrug*

Fast forward to Friday filling up at Tops Liquors in Tempe, and the guy flat out told me it was a leak the second he noticed it.

In any case, the leak was definitely slow, or ceased after pressure dropped to a certain level, as I got more than a few tires re-filled on the last 10 pounds.

Gonna head into Aidant today and see if they can't correct the issue. I hate to throw away the fill I got from Tops, but I also need to make certain this is a non issue before Sedonafest!

The premis of the CO2 tank is that enough liquid 'boils' off to maintain enough pressure in the tank to keep some remaining CO2 liquid. This also the reason why the pressure guage will tell you that you have a full tank until it isn't. So the reason as to why the bubbles disappeared would be something else.

I used to work on high pressure pnuematic systems and NEVER would use any pressurized equipment that wasn't absolutely 100%, though the stuff I worked with was in the 2800-6000psi range. I don't know what CO2 tanks usually operate at.

I believe it depends on what the Regulator is set at, as far as the pressure you use!

So after waitng for my tank to be filled and hydro tested for two and a half months. I called to inquire the where abouts of my tank. They admitted they lost it after looking for a couple days. They said they would order me a new source tank to replace the lost one. So far so good. Will update when they come through on their promise.

Well I finally was able to pick up my tank today. It wasnt a source. They replaced it with a brand new shiny powertank with the upgraded handle. Other than having to wait forever they made it right. I will continue to use ramseys
