As we were talking in the other thread, let's do all that stuff!!
I am leaving town in a few minutes and will not have internet, so I won't be able to make a list of attendees or anything, but chyea whatever!
Meet time: 9:00 Wed 12/19/07
Meet place: intersection of 60 and 79, Florence Junction
There's nothing at the meet place, just a place to meet. I'll be parked in an obvious position. No gas station - come ready to go.
This will be a FULL day of wheeling, bring a lunch!
The plan right now is:
Box Canyon -> Martinez -> Coke Ovens -> Telegraph
This will end the day in Superior, maybe get some dinner there.
I'll watch this thread from my cell, hope to see some of you there!!

I hope to see some pictures from this trip since I have to work.
This is a run I really really would like to do at some point. I need revenge since it kicked my butt on my 2 wheeler a few months ago.

This was really cool!! We did so much wheeling, it was sick awesome. Box Canyon, red hill, very briefly on Martinez, Coke Ovens, played around near the Gilar River, and then did Battle Axe out... wow, what a day!
I have a LOT of stuff to post up for trail reviews, but here's a quick few pics of the run:
Box Canyon:
The action started early, with Lance blowing a bead at the beginning of the box. Good thing he carries 8 spare tires, balancing station, hydraulic shop lift, overhead crane, etc...
random shot...
Cochran Coke Ovens Trail:
Gone2Baja tackling an obstacle...
and another...
and yet one more!
Very scenic trail, spot the FJ's!
Sliders are a good idea here, especially for stock suspension folks like myself!
Gone2Baja at it again!!
A few pretty good spots on this trail...
nice...
Eventually you end up at the Coke Ovens themselves. I have heard that this area is off limits due to rampant vandalism of the ovens. We did pass a fence that appeared as if it may have once had a gate attached to it that had been damaged or removed... but really there were no signs and no gates or fences. Lance filled a FULL gigantic bag of trash at the ovens site, so I feel like our presence there was ok. We should make an effort to contact the land owner to find out what's what with this site. Perhaps we could volunteer to clean up the area in exchange for special permission to visit the place if in fact it is supposed to be off-limits.
from afar...
Here's me, having triumphantly reached the Coke Ovens site.
Gila River:
Viewed from a distance...
There are two water crossings near the Cochran town site. This one was on the topo map... uhhhh, not gonna happen.
The next one was maaayyyybe do-able. This is the north side, an extremely muddy step that would necessitate winching without question. The depth of the water has not quite been determined either, so I don't know about this one...
Me on the river...
