Hey all, I missed the last group buy for the MAF skids. I've read most of the threads here on MAF vs. AP but I'm leaning towards AP. Is anyone else interested in a set of skids? IF we get a couple we might be able to get a discount but I haven't checked with either company yet. Just seeing if there is anyone else in my position looking for a set of skids.

Plus MAF customer service sucks! At least my one and only experience with them. They said my skids would be ready today, call em up and now they say next week. Sh!t happens but I told them they said that I could pick em up today locally and they didn't even care just told me again that they'd be ready next week, a simple apology would be nice when I'm dropping over half a grand!

At least the product is good, from what I hear.

Just got my skids from Dave (well a week ago, I've been busy). Great guy, good product, Great price. Thanks Dave.
Now for the install. I realize they are bolt on but does anyone have any advice on putting them on? I don't have a lift so I'll be laying in the driveway to put them on. Any tips would be appreciated.

Get a friend Wink use a bottle jack to hold up the other end, start from the back at the new crossmember and work forward. Air tools if you got'em. Keep all the bolts loose until you have all the plates on then go back and tighten them all.

You are gonna like these skids

Ok, I'm trying to install these. here's the problem. The Left side does not allign with the holes in the frame. It appears a frame weld seam is interfereing with the crossmember.
I could grind it down but I hate to remove metal from a structural frame.

did anyone else have this interference problem?

Mine is a 2008.

Can you grind the cross member rather than the frame?

That's a better idea. I think the weld needs to be taken down a bit as it has some peaks on it and not very even.
I'll try grinding the crossmember a little and see what happens.

Still curious if anyone else with 4plus skids had this problem on an 08.

Or lengthen the hole to a slot?

I'll try the hammer approach first. I don't have the tools to make the hole a slot, pretty limited tool box in my garage. Plus I hate to muck up Daves nice metal work.

Thanks guys. With luck I'll have them on in time for friday night.

If not I'm planning on coming anyway.
