I have been running the SPC upper control arms for many years with no issues. I replaced the bushings a year or two ago and at the time the ball joint looked good. Fast forward and it seems the ball joint boot has ripped and dirt grime have worn away at the innards.

Time for a replacement.

I found this video:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjHtOHEAg7o

It makes it seem like there is a special part required for the installation, that the ball joint for these is unique construction. It was always my understanding the balljoint used was a standard Toyota one with the addition of the adjustment plate.

After a bit of digging around the SPC website I found:
www.spcalignment.com/c...m&to=USATo

it leads me here:

at $190 at least that is a pair
4x4.fatbobsgarage.com/...c8669.aspx

a tad less on Amazon

I was hoping a more reasonable solution could be fitted:

So... anyone got some feedback on this quandary?

maybe I just take them apart; clean them up real good.. get a boot replacement; add some grease and call it a good day...

I would say to check for play in the ball joints before deciding what to do. If there's any play, then regardless of what you may want to try you'd need to replace them and it may just be moot.
Overall, if the boot's have been blown out for more than a month or two and you've wheeled it in the dirt or mud, I'd say you're probably better off to replace
