This run will cover most of the same ground as the last San Carlos Rez Run, but we will use a less-traveled and considerably more deteriorated road as the initial part of the run.

San Carlos Apache recreation permits are required and can be purchased at the Circle K where we are meeting.

We will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Circle K at 2011 E Ash St., Globe, AZ., 85501. We will leave at 8:00 a.m. We will travel east on U.S. 70 past San Carlos and Peridot to Indian Route 8. We will take Indian Route 8 to Ash Flat and head north on Ash Creek Road. Ash Creek Road skirts Ash Creek Ranch and proceeds up the mountain as Military Trail. Military trail is designated as San Carlos Road 1520 on most maps.

After climbing out of the canyon on Military Trail, we will go to the site of the old fire tower and have lunch. From the fire tower we will head west on 1500 to 1400. Depending on our time constraints, we will either proceed on 1400 west to U.S. 60 and back to Globe, or we will travel shorter section of 1400 down through Warm Springs back to Indian Route 8.

Then dinner at Chalos in Globe!

Sylvia and I traveled Military Trail back in September, 2016. It was deteriorated and blocked by fallen trees then. We had to cut our way through. Since then, there was a relatively wet winter and a very active monsoon. Who knows what we will encounter. Should be fun!

The last run was pretty damn awesome! You know we'll be there!
Really looking forward to it! Thanks for putting this together!

I was looking at the weather forecasts. There might be a bit of snow up there by the 14th. I'm already getting impatient.
