Hey guys, I’ve done a fair amount of reading on this topic and I’m itching to try 35s on my FJ with a 3” lift, spidertrax spacers, front UCAs, 17x9 wheels and a BMC. I know I’ll wear down suspension parts and potentially break the weak 8” diff and I’m okay with the risk. I’de love to hear real examples (opinions are welcome) of folks running a similar setup and to hear your likes/dislikes and if you would change your decision.

I’m currently running 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and they’ve been doing great on the trails with decent gas mileage (at least to me) at ~15mpg. I’m thinking a 315/70/17 going forward with a similar or maybe lighter weight tire.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Take it from an old guy. You don't want shit breaking. Stay with the 285's.

Maybe a good compromise would be 285-75-17...slightly larger but not a full 35...

First time I've ever heard the Toyota 8" refered to as weak!

Maybe it was only the early 07 FJ’s, but here’s an example post: www.fjcruiserforums.co...052?page=2

There are other mentions of it as well that alludes to why they upgraded to the 8.2, but it’s mostly anecdotal. Thanks for the responses. My tires are like new so I’ll either go all out to 35s or just stick with what I have.
