BACK WAY TO CROWN KING
This run is tied to the AZFJ Meet and Greet on July 28th (but are seperate)
Here is the link from the last Meet and Greet CK Run in 2015
Crown King is a signature trail in Arizona that goes from Carefree Highway up the back side of the mountain into the historic town of Crown King. Main street has Southwest's second oldest operating saloon, a "Whore House" and two restaurants, the Mill and the Saloon.
Trail can be as easy or as difficult as you like as all obstacles have bypasses. A good "starter" trail for drivers to see what their trucks can do. Rated a 3.0, with one or more challenging obstacle in the middle.
Beautiful and scenic views.
Classic Recovery of Rabbit...pre-jeep
We will arrive in town anywhere from 1-2pm
Once up there, there are a few options (TBD and based on your individual preference):
*Go back down the front side via I17 South
*Have lunch at either restaurant
*Hang around at the Saloon - www.crownkingaz.com/events/
*Stay in CK overnight - either in the Whorehouse or Camp
*Take Senator Highway out of CK to Prescott (about a 3 hour trip)
*Camp somewhere else up north
Saturday, July 29th
8:00am from the gas station
8:45am from airdown
Gas station next to the McDonalds on east side of I-17 and Care Free Highway
Be gassed up and ready to go at stated departure times
FRONT - EXPERT. 8:00AM DEPARTURE FROM GAS STATION
MIDDLE TO BACK - MORE CASUAL. 8:00AM DEPARTURE FROM GAS STATION
IMPORTANT RUN INFO CHANGE - UPDATE AS OF 7/21
As the group will be a manageable siz (around 20 rigs), we are going to go as one group as opposed to splitting it into two.
We still have Glider up front and he will be doing all the hard obstacles with the drivers who want to do all the hard ons with him.
I will be stationed about mid-way back for the second group of drivers who only want to do some or do the bypasses and will be spotting all those trucks as needed.
We are all going to leave at the same time - there are no longer two seperate departure times.
We will be leaving the Gas Station (info on the OP) at 8am SHARP. That means already gassed up, etc...
Our goal is to leave airdown by 8:45am at the latest if possible so we can avoid any CK traffic.
