well.... like discussions about "what tires should I buy?" the discussion about: "how do you inflate your tires after a trail run?" OR "what air compressor do I buy?" OR "why CO2 is superior .."

seem to come up quite often.. so .. perhaps a big mega thread recap..

previous discussions:
www.azfj.org/index.php...c&p=189013
www.azfj.org/index.php...c&p=110424
www.azfj.org/index.php...c&p=110078

www.azfj.org/index.php...ic&p=60401
www.azfj.org/index.php...pic&p=2675
www.azfj.org/index.php...opic&t=372

heck I even chimed in on one thread previously:
www.azfj.org/index.php...018#189018

So I read ALL those threads.. and found EVERY make/model mentioned.. and I wrote them down.. then found a link for them. I used Amazon because they keep their links valid even after the product is no longer sold while most manufactures like to orphan product links when they do a site re-vamp.. hopefully this allows this data more helpful WAY in the future.

In some random order...

Viair 300P $112
www.amazon.com/Viair-3...000X90YUO/

Viair 400P $150
www.amazon.com/Viair-4...000X9AXR8/

Viair 450 $220
Viair 450p (p = portable)
www.amazon.com/Viair-A...B000X9EGFS

Puma mini 12 volt 1.5 gal air compressor Puma mini $260 (tank + compressor solution)
www.amazon.com/Puma-In...00VNIB7CI/

HarborFreight $65 normal price (can be had for $40 if you catch a sale)
www.harborfreight.com/...69285.html

MV-50 $85 - mentioned SEVERAL times; overall good choice for "it will work pretty well"
www.amazon.com/dp/B000BM8RT8/

O'Reilly $90
www.oreillyauto.com/si...&ppt=C0337

TJM $130 (oddly looks like the MV-50)
www.sierraexpeditions....ail&p=4138

Goodyear i8000 $40 (this was never mentioned previously.. but I saw it in my search so here you go; NOTE - this is an AC device so an inverter would be required)
www.amazon.com/Goodyea...003XGYDE2/

ARB CKMTA12 $545
store.arbusa.com/ARB-O...21341.aspx
www.amazon.com/ARB-CKM...B0050DI9YQ $500

ARB CKMP12 $335

www.amazon.com/ARB-CKM...004P9A35E/

ExtremeAir 007-22 $589
www.extremeoutback.com...7-222.html
from here: www.azfj.org/index.php...113#189113

so all of the above were compressor solutions... how about CO2 ?

a crowd favorite:
www.instantairsupply.c...gory=5&n=8
~$240

Poly Performance:
www.amazon.com/Poly-Pe...01DZ27V7O/

Smittybilt $300
www.amazon.com/Smittyb...003EP0SCS/

PowerTank complete solution $510
www.amazon.com/Power-T...002KCE6KG/

Power tank without a few accessories $440
www.amazon.com/dp/B002KCE6JM/

DIY solution for an air tank:

so ... anything solution / preferred choice not address yet?

I love my Viair 300 no issues seems as fast as anyone else when airing up 285's.

Anyone ever mount and hard wire one of these in the engine compartment?

An option I recommend to consider is to get a CO2 regulator of whatever brand, that's FOR CO2 fill-up tanks (not a welding regulator or keg regulator which freeze at fill-up flow rates) and then just get a CO2 bottle at whatever welding supply you want so that you can participate in exchanges instead of having to get the bottle refilled. It's a lot like propane. Why worry about the quality of the tank? Beat it and exchange it. Let the shop keep it up to date.

This is what I've built for the Co2 tank, extinguisher and flashlight. Could do more with this rack if you have the imagination for installing more quikfist mounts.

[img][/img]

I have a little bit of material for a few more racks like this one or I could just give you the recipe and you can create your own. Not too hard to build and it is completely adjustable, meaning that I can "slide" the quickfist mounts to either side of the rack which would be preferred by the owner. It is made of mostly aluminum so it is fairly light. As can be seen in the pic, I have my Co2 tank strapped to the rack and to the quikfist where the hangar "thingy" was above it for even more stability. I was afraid of getting clobbered by the tank if I ever got in an accident or rolled out on the trail.

Just an FYI. I had a 50lb. pound Craftsman tool kit bungie corded down in the back of my 1st FJ when I rolled. I should have taken photos of the dent in the headliner right behind the drivers seat! That totally changed the way I pack my truck. Shocked
