Hey all!

I'm looking to replace my (basically) useless nerf bars on the FJ to some real sliders. I don't want to be out and about, catch a rock and rip off all of the sheet metal attached to the nerf bars/steps I'm currently running. I've had a few too many close calls and don't really want to take the risk of having a $$$ body job to fix my doors!

Anyone have input on the best bang for your buck sliders?

Does anyone know of a hook up to get a good deal on sliders? I'd love to know!

Anything helps as I haven't had much experience with sliders on the FJ!

Help make my rig less like a Mall Crawler and more like the Rock Crawler that it's built to be!

I currently have OEM. I am going to get Budbuilts "beefy" bump outs eventually hopefully along with a full set of skids. I was about to pull the trigger but then I got into a 12k accident so it got pushed back. Hoping to order in the next few months.

I went with these a few years ago, basically for the same exact reasons. I didn't want to break the bank, but I wanted some protection. They aren't my favorite looking ones, but they not only protect my undersides from rocks and boulders, but also from idiots opening their car doors!

I like the stock rails. I had the ones like on cl and didn't care for them.

I have MetalTech and I really like them.

They tuck up tight and are very strong.

The only issue is they hold mud on the top of the slider...

If I remember correctly the Pure FJ sliders are the same thing as all pros if not just all pros rebranded. Essentially you need to decide on a design that you want. Bumpouts are a nice option. They have the bump in the back to push rocks away. They also usually have three options for plates/steps (no plate, just the bump part has a plate, and full plate). The only negative to plates is mud and everything on the trail will end up there. There's OEM style flat ones which hug the bottom of the door but they don't have the bump out. Simple, usually pretty effective (have saved my a** a multitude of times). Or the other options are the crazy and unique designs such as some of the demello. I will be moving to bump out option shortly.

I LOVE my Demello sliders. Nice and tight and sturdy, but very expensive.

You can always contact Joe at GMG Fab to make you some sliders and go local

Thanks for the input all! All I'm looking for is function on the cheap! I love the looks of the metal-tech and demello sliders, but that price tag is a hard one to squeeze when you're newly married and still in college!

Let me know when you upgrade to the bump outs and maybe I'll take the OEM sliders off your hands ProjectTitus!

I think I'll keep watching craigslist and hope that something comes up.

Demello makes some awesome sliders. I personally have the hybrids and absolutely love them. Save up your pennies for a nice set. Sliders are one of the most important modifications you can't make. Do it right the first time and you'll never have to mess with them again.

Sliders were one of the first (and only to this point) mods that I've picked up. I went with GMG Fabrication and they're great. Definitely recommend checking out this option.

Especially if you install them with a friend Wink

Bump outs are over rated.
