For those of you who didn't get into Summit X, I have another awesome adventure for you to come join me on. Just like Summit, space is extremely limited, so please RSVP via Meetup:

meetu.ps/2WCk02

Casner Mountain was originally used by the Casner family in the 1880s as a route for moving cattle from the Verde Valley in the winter months to the top of the Mogollon Rim during the summer months, it was later developed for use by the utility companies to build and maintain power lines. Much of the Casner Mountain Trail is squeezed between the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness and Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness offering awesome views of both (and forcing you to stay on the trail); along with the famous red rock country of Verde Valley.

The RSVP list isn't working as expected, so I've added four more spots to the list.

Well I haven't gotten my Summit X waitlist invite yet but I'm still planning on being there over the weekend of this run. I'm still very interested though, and would love to set something like this up another time. Are you willing to share some info?
- How did you go about getting the permit for this run?
- Was there a cost?
- Any lead time or was it quick between request and receipt?
- Did they mention any limitations on the number of permits that are given per year/season?
Feel free to PM if you would prefer.

Contact the Red Rock Ranger District office.
Permit is free, but very limited.
The sooner the better.

Click the Casner Mountain link above for details.

Make sure you've requested membership in the group first, once that's approved then you can RSVP.

I may camp up on the rim Friday night, somewhere west of Kachina Village.
