I had planned to install an ARB-based breather kit before I left for Summit but I ran out of time. I like the ARB kit because it has larger diameter tubing than other kits which is less likely to get clogged. Thanks to @Briareos for his well written ARB Breather Install - Optimized for FJ thread in the Blue Room, it was an easy install. Arriving in Ouray on Wednesday afternoon, I volunteered to be tailgun for the night run up to Imogene Pass. It was a blast but I noticed that the first water crossing was almost deep enough to submerge the rear diff breather so on Thursday afternoon, I crawled under the FJ and installed both rear breathers (rear diff and the e-locker) and ran them up into the engine well where I mounted the ARB filter on an aluminum bracket attached to a bolt on my Shrockworx Wiper Fluid Reservoir. Now I don't have to worry about my rear breathers getting submerged. I will relocate the two front breathers in the engine well later as they factory location of these breathers is much higher.

Someone might ask what my dream car is... most people would bust out some nonsense like a Lamborghini, Bentley, or some classic beast of an american muscle car.

Without hesitation, I would say, "Velociraptor's FJ."

I imagine you have more dollars in mods for that beauty than I have in my entire rig...

Kicking myself for missing you at the Summit. Please don't mind the drool puddles when I get to see this thing in person.

@Splagg,

Thanks Splagg. I relocated the rear breathers so I don't have to worry about drool puddles or creek crossings. Very Happy

I recently added a PRG pre-cleaner to my snorkel to cut down on the dust intake. I empty the bowl when airing up. It also keeps rain from going down the snorkel. At some point I may replace this with a Donaldson TopSpin pre-cleaner that automatically ejects 85% of the dust.

My last daily driver had an incredible sound system in it but I sold the vehicle before moving out west. I really loved the ride and the sound but the vehicle was built for the autobahn and not for offroad exploration.

I recently added an OEM Audio Plus system to my rig and my expectations were greatly exceeded by the quality of the sound. After listening to various genres in my music collection, I was very impressed with the sound stage and the crisp reproduction of highs, mid-range and bass. The system integrates with the factory Toyota head unit (made by Fujitsu) and replaces the amp, speakers, and subwoofer with their own custom system that includes a Sub amplifier, a DSP Amplifier that is engineered and tuned specifically for the FJ Cruiser's interior acoustics, and high quality carbon fiber speakers.

YouTube video about the install...

Once the average outdoor temp in my garage drops to a tolerable level, I plan on installing sound insulation to reduce the overall road noise.

Installation underway

New Subwoofer

Listening to the system immediately after installation
