Anyone interested in camping up on the rim that weekend? Going across the Rim Road, camp, then finish Rim Road on the way back Sunday? We will be right off the Beeline for this event.

Ok well, I thought I'd list two camping options in case anyone was interested. I'm sure whatever one we decide to go to will be determined by how we feel after the clean-up and whether or not we have sun-stroke.

Option 1:
Workman Creek Falls. This is NE of Roosevelt Lake and about a 4 hour drive from where we will be for the clean-up. Definitely the more fun route, we would head up to 4 Peaks and over El Oso Rd, cross the highway and take A Cross Rd. to the town of Willow. Dirt ends there as we head up Highway 288 to the Workmans Road turn off. Beautiful falls and dispersed camping along the creek, hiking trail nearby to old ruins. Keep in mind this is a small area, popular with the rappelling crew so may be busy. Then again, summer is pretty much over at this point so maybe not. If we head out of the clean-up by 1pm this should put us in camp by 5-ish.

Option 2:
Bear Canyon Lake. This is NE of Payson and about a 2.5 hour drive from where we will be for the clean-up. All highway or paved roads, but we will be going across part of the Rim Road which should be absolutely scenic, and we can finish up Rim Road on Sunday before heading back to Phoenix. Again, dispersed camping and no motorized vehicles on the lake, so hopefully it will be less crowded than the other nearby options of Woods Canyon or Knolls Lake. If we head out of the clean-up by 1pm this should put us in camp by 330 or 4.

Please post up if you are interested in camping and if you have an opinion on which area you would like to go to. Otherwise we will just be making a decision the day of.

Ok due to scheduling conflict we will still be at the clean-up but out for camping. The Amateur Radio Convention is going on that weekend in Mesa so anyone who is interested in becoming a HAM, looking at equipment or learning more is welcome to join us!! AZ Ham Con

Bump for this weekend. Not sure if I'm going to camp out there Friday night or just get up early and head out Saturday morning.

What's the word on camping? None in that area? I'd like to come up Friday night and camp.

Hi Kids, Just "generly" is this Salt River clean up. And don't use GPS directions. Some day I will get someone to show me how this works. I've had this Garmin 72 for about three yerars now and just haven't taken the time to figure it out.

See Ya, Doc

Miss Artoo

What time will this get started? I am pretty sure I can join in to help on the 13th but am not certain where to go. I would rather follow somebody to the proper locaton than assume and piss away a morning looking.

He he...well its from 8am to 2p. For those of you who attended the "Drive my FJ" thing its in the same general area, so camping would probably be again at one of the coves at Saguaro. I'm not confident going out there in the dark since I've only been out there one other time and will be minus a navigator. I believe the clean-up itself is taking place at one of the tubing areas for the Salt. If I do go out to camp on Friday I'd like to get there before dark. Mike what time you coming up?
