As of 8/4/18, This trail is now IMPASSABLE for four-wheeled vehicles.

This summer's storms have worn deep into several of the draws north of Devil's Chasm, but one of them, at the map below, is not navigable. The flowing water has pulled the draw in deeper and what used to be two trees that were just left of the approach, are now blocking the approach.

Blockage: Map

Motorbikes should still be ok to get through.

No idea what's north of there. Safe bet it's more storm damage and probably more blown out draws.

Rumor has it the feds or whoever oversees this shit, is no longer maintaining that road and it will stay as is...maybe even become officially closed soon.

Looks like it's now going to be referred to as "upper" and "lower" cherry creek roads. Wink

The next wildfire will bulldoze that into a control road.

The reason they are probably not going to repair this one is that small parts of the road cross into the nearby Wilderness area. Since the Tonto Travel Management Plan is due out sometime soon they have been looking at stuff like this more closely. It takes an act of Congress to move a Wilderness boundary unfortunately. McCain had shown some interest in helping with a couple of these situations in AZ but I don't know about our new Congress folks.
