All,

I recently picked up tibaal89's fox Racing coil overs. I feel like I have bugged him enough with "Thank Yous" for the great deal and figured I'd ask you all this question..

I have to rebuild the fronts and rears. Before I send them to FOX, should I rebuild them to factory specs, or should I do some custom valving?

I have an ARB front bumper and Warn rear bumper. I ride with a RTT when I go camping.

I'm thinking of making them a "bit" stiffer to compensate for the extra weight, but not sure how much. From what I gathered from talking with a service tech from Fox, valving makes the ride stiff/soft.

Thoughts?

Thanks for any feedback, guys!!!!

I would definitely do a custom valve job on them. You can talk to fox or down south motorsports. They do allot custom valving for desert vehicles including allot of Tacoma and fjs.

Plus 2 on custom valving.
Im a radflo dealer and have them build custom valving all the time.
Just tell them what you want and expect from your suspension.

Yup, like having the built to order option. I have a set of said Radflo's, but valved for a lighter load to suit my needs. I also went for the adjustable valving (so the baseline was softened) to not have to compromise between street use and wheeling (the only compromise was to my bank account for that option).
I would talk to Fox and see what they would recommend. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to see if you can get a weight front/back.

Technically the shocks should match the springs and the vehicle weight but there is a lot of room for tuning the suspension. Also makes a big difference if you run sway bars or not. you can have a much softer ride with great control with sway bars but if you have them off, or plan to, you may want to have the shocks valved a bit stiffer to reduce the body lean on quick turns.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I figured I'd send it back to Fox cause it's their product, but it seems like down south motor sports would be a good option too. I like supporting local so I may go with that.
