You can drive around almost the entire lake
No more than a dirt rd. Access to the lake from shore , you will have to find a good spot. I can't tell you the finishing is good or bad . I really only know that I would like to find out Very Happy .
The temp isn't cool, but it isn't blazing hot like it is here. May be go there early morning and stay until you can't stand it . I thought it was 10-15 degrees cooler Probably mid 90's in the heat of the day

I thought I recognized "The Rock". Glad you all had fun. Looking forward to the GPS data. My Son and I have (4) days starting Thursday to get out and get dirty. May have to start with this.

I remember what the "resort" looked like when open. The store was stocked, gas station open, and they rented the few cabin's that were there.

It didn't last long, then the natives reclaimed the area. Rolling Eyes

I don't know how often the lake is patrolled, but reservation access or fishing permits are required.

Beyond the lake, the trail trail splits and either runs back into Tonto Forest(left turn) to some mines overlooking the Salt River, or continues a short distance to the remains of a campground at Seneca Falls, which is usually dry, but has a nice canyon overlook.
